Originally by: Katy Moore That prevents any slaves being taken from Minmatar worlds, except by the Angel Cartel, which would be an internal Minmatar affair.
For the record, pilot, while a lot of us are originally Matari, the Cartel is by no means exclusive to the Republic, either in influence or membership. Being as we have holdings and projects across Empire space, our membership reflects that; we're probably the only truly multicultural/multiethnic society (like most "pirate" empires, we're a bit large to just be called an "organization") in the cluster.
On which note, to those arguing so vigorously for the extermination of the Amarr:
While I don't necessarily deny your right (assuming you have the ability to pull it off) to vengeance, I wonder whether genocide or near-genocide (purging, for instance, believers of the Amarrian faith) actually has the support of the Matari public. At the moment, it wouldn't surprise me, considering the passions at work, but if that were to change-- what would you do?
The reason I bring this up is because my concern in this war has less to do with the triumph or fall of any given Empire than with the survival of our own kind. I'm sure the actual dynamic is more complicated than this, but it seems to me that if your deeds greatly outstrip the desires of your society, what you're really working towards is the death of the infomorph.
Capsuleer dementia is hard to identify among Minmatar and Amarr, and I think the reason is that, while your causes don't necessarily prevent you from drifting away from the humans you were, they do an excellent job of disguising the drift. Consequently, you may appear to be merely serving your causes, as any good, empassioned Matari would, right up to the point where you break free of the swell of popular feeling and immerge as (to a human's eye) some of the most heinous, blood-soaked fiends imaginable.
People tend to want to dissociate themselves from atrocity. They'll do that by redefining you as something other than what they are, and the obvious line for that is that between human and infomorph. This will not be good for us.
It may be that this outcome is meaningless to you, of course-- I'm sure many of you consider your cause more important than your existences. Your loyalty, after all, is to your people, and not to your fellow capsuleers, many of whom you are currently fighting against. However, it seems questionable to me whether doing such a thing as near-genocide "for the good of" people who have ceased to want it is serving them at all.
In the alternative, if you don't care at all what your own people think (and, by the way, if they continue to agree with you, the social camouflage their bloodlust provides should hold nicely), when the time comes the rest of us may have to seriously consider how best to remove you as a factor, for the sake of our own existences. I'll have to think about this.
